AHS Outcomes & Impact

Delivering systemic results while helping people

The more than 23,000 of our neighbors who have no health coverage of any kind are at great risk and face an uncertain future. Some receive limited and inconsistent care at an emergency room. Others may neglect health problems altogether. Preventive care, meanwhile, is almost unheard of for the uninsured. As a result, their health often continues to worsen. Eventually, many become so sick they are unable to care for or support themselves or their family. It is a story that plays out all too often, every day.

This impacts the entire community. While Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties have strong economies, it could be even more dynamic and stronger if all of our friends and neighbors were able to fully leverage their ability and talent. And when our fellow residents are unable to access regular preventive care that everyone needs, it often leads to more critical complications down the road. The result is much higher medical costs for everyone and additional stress on our local services that could have been avoided.
