AHS Receives Two More National Awards

November 4th, 2019

The American Public Health Association recognized AccessHealth Spartanburg with two awards at its annual meeting in Philadelphia in November:

  • AHS was named the national Outstanding Community Health Worker Group of the year. The award recognizes one organization that seeks to impact community health through the work of community health workers.
  • AHS Care Navigator Sheri Crocker received the Outstanding Community Health Worker Award. Crocker has worked for AccessHealth Spartanburg since 2016.

"Sheri works with clients who have very complex medical and social issues," said AHS Director Summer Tebalt. "Many of her clients are homeless, have mental health disease, and have other complicated barriers to overcome. Although her work is demanding and mentally taxing, she maintains positivity and professionalism with every client. It was an honor to nominate her for this award, and I am so happy the American Public Health Association has recognized her with this national award."

AccessHealth Spartanburg has been recognized repeatedly by national health organizations for its innovative work and is considered a national model for care navigation and improving health outcomes for people with significant barriers to care.
